Eileen Gibbons

Nurse Practitioner (Queenstown)

Eileen has built a diverse nursing career primarily focused on cardiology. After earning her Bachelor of Nursing in 1997 as part of Waikato Polytechnic's first degree-level nursing course, she gained experience across CCU/ICU, ED, cardiothoracic care, and cath labs, including agency work in Melbourne and Perth.

She moved to Queenstown two decades ago, working at Lakes District Hospital before returning to Waikato CCU. There, Eileen played a key role in establishing the Waikato Integrated Heart Failure Service and completed a Master of Health Science in 2015.

Her journey continued in residential eldercare, collaborating with GPs and NPs, and becoming a Nurse Practitioner in 2021. A subsequent role as a Cardiology Nurse Practitioner in Tauranga saw her optimising patient care and education across the Bay of Plenty region.

Now back in Queenstown, Eileen is passionate about improving cardiac health outcomes through education, early detection, and effective management. Outside of work, she loves spending time with her grandchildren, who often visit her in Queenstown, and enjoys reading, swimming, walking, and e- making the most of the area's outdoor lifestyle on e-bike.
